If I recall my long-ago studies into human development of 10,000 BC and prior correctly, undergoing puberty at ten-eleven was not only possible but downright normal.

Wow, this is SO not what I come up with when scanning past the cartoon channels. Thanks!

How cheery! I find this characterization of Death to be much more realistic and familiar.
Yes, yes, you've framed it as a one-shot, but you know we're all hoping you'll see fit to extend it, at least with a few more wide-angle-snapshot chapters like this one. One for the backstory, perhaps, with a glimps at all the propagating consequences, and a glimpse of the time-mangling that got Harry to an early puberty. One for the major tumbling of the dominos at Hogwarts, as the deathly duo help others along to face up to their responsibilities, or just on to their just rewards. Another for the Ministry as, inevitably, it tries to recapture control of the situation from reality. Finally, how Tom is eventually put to work to prevent more problems like him from arising; he is like a House-Elf, after all, trying so hard to be helpful.
This is one to savor. Thanks for sharing it with us.
