Oh this is bad. Madam Pomphrey doesn't know what she has done by making Harry go to sleep. It is now obvious that Freddy has been waiting for Harry to fall asleep. Now he has and he is at Privet Drive. All his friends knew what a dangerous thing it was for him to fall asleep but Madam Pomphrey doesn't believe that Harry sleeping is dangerous to others. I look forward to more of this story. pms

Well, I'm on Hermione's side, and don't feel she had anything for which she should apologise. Sirius's gun comparison isn't convincing at all. If someone gave me forewarning that a gun would be placed against my forehead you can bet there's any number of things I'd do to stop that from happening.
I don't like this Harry. Certainly he's not the 100% pure hero that we often see in fanfics, and even in the canon (when it comes to heroic matters). He's only now, in this chapter, wondering if he's somehow responsible for the deaths? When he *knows* that it's only *through him* that Freddy is managing his attacks? Bah.
Harry might not be technically 'responsible' for the deaths - that's Freddy, or Snape, etc - but he's instrumental in them, and certainly he has it in his power to stop them (by dying).
If he ever tells anyone else this last secret ... wow. It could split the Trio. I wonder what Hermione would do? Your Hermione? Would she stick by Harry, or reluctantly/pragmatically decide that the greatest good for the 'greatest number' would require Harry to kill himself?
How many people would try and kill Harry if they knew that terminating his life would end Freddy's murders?
> "I just... I just had this... this feeling..." she stammered.
NOT HERMIONE!!! PLEASE, NOT HERMIONE!!!

This is freakishly amazing!
Like I said, I've never been one for horror, but this is entertaining!

So now we're about midway through the "movie," where people start believing in Freddy, and go "Oh God, what do we do?" This is usually the part where the kills get more spectacular, which could be fun depending on who's on the list . . . Though I must admit, I'm curious to see how (or if) you'll finish Freddy off. No Dream Masters or anything like them here - and Harry, by his own admission, can't stop giving Freddy access to his mind. Very puzzling problem - but what I've seen of your work tells me that the solution will be elegant, and eminently creative. Please keep it up.

Freddy is going to try to hurt the wrong person and Harry is going to kick Freddy's butt. Which will help Harry kick Freddy out of Harry's mind.
Thanks for writing

Very good chapter

Umbridge gets hers at last. Good. About time! :)
I was confused while reading this chapter. I'd thought that Freddy was only achieving his ingress to people's dreams because of Harry's broken mind; and that, therefore, it would become obvious eventually that the only clear way to stop Freddy would be to kill Harry. (Or magically prevent him from dreaming, I suppose. But if that was possible one would imagine that the option would have been mooted as an option for dealing with Voldemort's visions.)
But that wasn't clear at all in Harry's chat with Madam Bones. Not only did Harry NOT say "Freddy's killing people through me", he suggested that he was a special case only as a side-attraction, a peripheral visit by Freddy, incidental to Krueger's main activities.
So I thought I'd gotten things wrong. I was confused.
But then in the final scene Freddy makes it clear again that Harry's dreams are critical to his stalking of the British wizarding world.
So I think I get it. Harry's wised up to the obvious (hey, if I can see it, he should be able to) and is deliberately hiding the truth of his connection to Freddy's activities in order to protect himself. But that's something you've hidden from we readers, you're making us work this out for ourselves? You evil author you.
So I'm still worried about Harry's future. Long term and also - messy? Oh dear - short term.
This Harry doesn't seem to be the fall-on-his-sword-at-a-moment's-notice version that we got in the series. Mind you, circa book 5, Harry was an angry lad who probably wasn't that willing to die for others. And Dumbledore hadn't yet brainwashed him into being a compliant sacrificial lamb.
Wondering what's going to happen next. And more interested than ever in Harry's thoughts - right now he doesn't seem to be the lily white hero that I'm used to. Thank you for the chapter!

Well it is about time that Harry told someone what is really going on. I can understand why he was reluctant to tell anyone what was going on but now he might get some help. I'm glad that Harry stood up to Freddy but what will Freddy do now? He might attack some of Harry's friends and be especially brutal about it. I look forward to more of this story. pms

NOT HERMIONE!! ANYONE BUT HERMIONE!!!

Wow, things really accelerated in this chapter. Funny how you've now exonerated Harry. I was worried that Marietta would somehow survive and tell everyone that he *is* involved. I was imagining a scene where maybe the whole castle would descend upon the medical wing with the intent of killing him, with only his five friends, clustered around his bed, standing between him and death. Which was the reverse of my hoped-for scene of this story, of Harry (somehow!) rescuing the first of his friends (preferably Hermione playing the (potential) love interest in distress, but only if you guarantee that she'll survive unhurt thankyouverymuch) who comes to Freddy's notice.
Which brings me to the start of the chapter:
> In hindsight, her apparel was appropriate for the proverbial damsel in distress.
Heh. All along I've been wondering/hoping that you might install a proper "Harry saving the damsel in distress" scene - with Hermione playing the role of the damsel, helpless in the dreamscape - you wrote Harry's rescuing her so nicely in Backwards Compatible, but here the odds would be stacked higher and the drama more exaggerated, given how it's all in a dream - so I was bemused when I read Pansy's thoughts here. PANSY PARKINSON. No, not the girl I had in mind.
I wonder how you're going to resolve this? Really, Harry's GOT to feel guilty once he's woken up. After all, if he were to tell someone, they could repair his mind, fix whatever Snape did to it, and Freddy's incursions would cease.
But the problem is, the easiest, most expedient way to stop the carnage would be to simply slay Harry. And the boy - trained to be a sacrificial lamb by Dumbledore in the canon, and even in fanon always ready to give his life for others - might even suggest it himself.
Still, first things first. The VERY SECOND he wakes up I want him to hug Hermione and say "I definitely DO NOT hate you, Hermione". Yes. Yes, that will make me ... sorry, not *me*, Hermione and Harry, of course ... feel a lot better.

With all his detention and Filch's constant nasty insults and comments (just why is this man around children?), I am surprised he wasn't behind Draco and Snape! Is Freddy limited to only those in the building Harry occupies? If not, the Dursleys certainly deserve a visit. ;P

I thought I grew out of my slasher movie phase a few decades ago, but this is as much fun as the early Elm Street movies.

I'm a bit disappointed that you've not shown us the physical effects of his "chat" with Tom, but 'twas an excellent chapter despite that. I do wonder what's going to happen when all of Hogwarts is withdrawn from the castle. *smirk* I rather hope that Freddy decides to visit Cornelius and Albus (be a right shock to Albus if he legilimizes Harry and Freddy drops in on him).
I have to wonder if Hermione's asked her parents to follow up on Harry's research request and what fruit that will bear. I suspect at some point Freddy's going to make the mistake of going after someone Harry cares about and he's going to find that Harry's not as out of it or control as he thought. I can just see Harry & Hermione working together to patch and seal the hole that allows Freddy in.

This is really good! Seriously, keep it up. I love how graphic you make it; it feels like I'm actually there. Not that anyone would actually want to be there with Freddy... Good job. :)

Well Freddy is deffinitely enjoying himself to the fullest. At the cost of a lot of clueless children who should never have been hurt, much less killed for his entertainment. The people he has chosen deffinitely have been cruel or stupid about Harry. I look forward to more of this story. It is really gruesome though. pms
